  • Systematic studies of the following diseases have been carried out: Aflatoxicosis in ducks (1975 and 1992), Duck plague in Assam (1981 and 1985), Marek's disease (1975), Goat pneumonia (1981), Wildlife diseases (1991 and 1998), Duck diseases (2005)
  • Dr. A. Chakraborty, Former Professor cum present Director of Research (Vety.) was felicitated at Madhya Pradesh Pachu Sikitchya Vigyan Vishwa Vidyalaya for outstanding contribution in wildlife health in 2010
  • A total of seventeen (17) students from the Department qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lecturership conducted by ICAR.
  • Dr. Seema Rani Pegu selected for Agricultural Research Scientist (ARS) during 2010-2018.
  • Dr. Rajib Bonia, Ph.D Scholar was awarded the Rajib Gandhi National Fellowship for pursuing PhD Programme in the year 2011-2012.
  • The research paper on “Incidence and pathology of Kolinga Brown breed of poultry in Assam” authored by Dr. Rajib Bonia et al. was selected as the best research paper for the year 2011-12 by the Indian Journal of Veterinary Pathology.
  • Dr. Seema Rani Pegu, Ph.D scholar received the Best poster presentation award in 23rd National Congress of Vety. Parasitology held w.e.f. 12 -14th December, 2012 on the topic “Incidence of pimply gut condition in Mithun (Bos frontalis) calves.
  • Faculty members of the Department published a book viz. “VETERINARY PATHOLOGY FOR BEGINNERS, Vol I, 3rd Edn.” in the 2013.
  • Two (2) students viz. Dr. Lalit Deori and Dr. Rajib Bonia, from the Department were selected as Assistant Commandant in SSB and ITBPF respectively in 2011 and 2013.
  • Dr. K. Kalita, Professor, received the “Rajiv Gandhi achiever award” of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (New Delhi) in 2015. Dr. Kalita was also awarded Bharatiya Shiksha Ratan award by National Economics for Health and Educational Growth in 2008.
  • Dr. (Ms.) Mahmuda Malik, Ph.D Scholar received the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for pursuing Ph.D Programme in 2014.
  • One student (Dr. Bichitra G. Nath) from the Department was selected for Assam Civil Service in 2015.
  • Dr SM Tamuli received ICVP –DIPLOMATE certification award (Internationally recognised) conferred by IAVP in the 2016.
  • Diagnosis of Inclusion body Hepatitis –Hydropericardium syndrome (IBH-HPS) and Molecular characterization of Fowl adenovirus (FADv-4) was done for the first time from Assam.
  • Dr. Sunayana Baruah, conducted Ph.D research on “Toxicopathological studies on induced mushrooms (Mycetism) and its amelioration with herbal components in laboratory animals” (2019) for the first time from NE region.
  • The Department organized XVII Annual conference of Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologist & National Symposium and CL Davis foundation satellite seminar w.e.f. 25th to 27th November, 2010. The Department also organized the Annual conference of Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologist in 1988.
  • The Department conducted National workshop on “Integrated Environment Management of Aquatic Resources of N.E. Region” on 26th July, 2014.
  • The Department conducted awareness programme on “Ornamental fish culture and trade” on 05.12.15.
  • The Department conducted a one day seminar on “Molecular Diagnosis and Pathology of Emerging Diseases of Livestock and Poultry” on 25.02.18 in collaboration with the Indian Association of Vety. Pathologists (IAVP) central committee and IAVP, Assam Chapter. The seminar was graced by Dr. R. Somvanshi, President, IAVP; Dr. C. Balachandran, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, TANUVAS; Dr. BN Tripathy, Director, NRC Equine; Dr. S.K. Panda, Prof. & Head, Depatment of Pathology, OUAT and Dr. T. Rajkhawa, Prof. & Head, CVSc. & A.H, Seleish, Mizoram. There were altogether 45 participants including Retd. and present faculties of the Department.
