Directorate of Students' Welfare


The Directorate of students' Welfare, College of Veterniary Science, AAU, Khanapara, Guwahati is under the Directorate' of students' Welfare, AAU, Jorhat. Originally this activity of Students' Welfare was looked after by Dr. J.N. Goswami an Astt. Professor, Dept. of Microbiology under the dean, College of Veterniary Science, Khanapara. Then the Directorate of Students' Welfare was created with one Deputy Director, Students, Welfare under the Directoare of Students' Welfare, AAU, Jorhat.

Till 1997 April there was the Dt. Director of students' welfare, subsequently it was designed as Assosciate Director of students' welfare as the incumbent was promoted to the rank of professor.

The following activities are associated with the Directorate of students' welfare
  • CO-curricular activities.
  • Extra curricular activities.
  • Extension and social services
  • Hostel Management/Student housing
  • Students training and placement

All the above activities are carried out with the help of faculty members and the students themself.

The students' union has its different sections, social services, music & cultural, Fine Arts & Literature, Debate & Symposium, Gymnasium, Drama, Minor Games, Major GAmes it each section is guided by the Professor-in-charge

The training and placement cell has been entrusted to this Directorates of Students Welfare in the year 2002. Since than the different job, priented training programmes are arranged every year. One month refreshers courses of training for JRF examination is organized every year inthe month of May. In addition to this lectures for personality development and counselling ara also arranged by the guest lecturer form among the qualified personalitis of Greater Guwahati.

Further different companies, NGO's, Bank, Farms, pharmaceuticals are kept in touch for arranging the campus interviews for jobs of our pass out student.

There are none numbers of hostels. One PG Hostel, 5nos of U.G. boys hostel and 3 nos. of girls' hostel. All hostels are looked after by a Hostel Warden in each hostel.

All the activities are supervised and managed by this Directorates of students' welfare with the following office setup.

  5. One PA system operator
  6. One Mali
  7. One chowkider
  8. Four M/R worker
